Home Vpn Server – You may know what a VPN or virtual private network is; You may not use it. You really should be using a VPN, and even if you don’t think so now, in the future you may consider it as important as your internet connection.

In this post, I’ll explain what a VPN is and show you how to set up a PPTP client and server on Linux.

A virtual private network, or VPN, is a group of computers connected over a public network, the Internet. We can use a VPN to connect our devices to a remote network and access files and information stored on the device on that remote network. The connection will be encrypted. So a third party won’t be able to see.

How To Use Pptp Vpn To Access Your Home Network Through The Wi Fi Routers (new Logo)

In my case, I have a private network at home and I installed a PPTP VPN server on my Raspberry Pi. So if I need to connect to a computer from the office, I can use a VPN to connect to my home network, from the office network, and access the computer.

PPTP is one of the simple and widely used VPNs. It can be easily configured on every major operating system. PPTP transmits point-to-point connections over the Internet to preserve privacy. Despite the power of PPTP, it is not the most secure VPN.

Now I will show you how to setup a pptp server in Linux. I am using Kali Linux to setup my VPN server.

We need to install some packages and modify some configuration files. Just copy and paste them to your device in order.

Dual Router/modem And Vpn Configuration

Here “localip” is the IP address of the server and remoteip are the addresses that will be given to clients when they connect to this VPN server.

Where the IP address used for ms-dns routing is the DNS server of the local network to which the client will connect.

Next, we need to configure port forwarding in the router. This will be different for different routers. I am using netgear WNR 614.

PPTP VPN uses port 1723. So we just need to direct all incoming connections through this port to VPN servers with private IP address.

Wie Man Ein Vpn Mit Dem Raspberry Pi Einrichtet, Um Aus Der Ferne Zu Arbeiten

Here we can see that both have different IP addresses. When we successfully connect to the VPN server, this public IP address will change.

Enter the server’s public IP address, the username and password we just created on the server. Then click Connect.

We can see that the public IP address of the client has changed to the public IP of the VPN servers. This means that all traffic now goes through the VPN server.

I have been trying to install Kali Linux 2020 Linux headers on my computer and I have tried every possible solution on the internet but it always shows “Could not find packages”. Business: Impossible… The COVID-19 pandemic is now a serious challenge and employers and employees in particular need to consider how they can continue to ensure that their companies can continue to do business in the short term through the recommended precautions. . In this regard, many companies are already following the recommendation to force their employees to work from home. This is done in order to minimize social contact and slow down the spread of the coronavirus.

However, the possibility of working at home is discussed not only in connection with the coronavirus. Working from home has been a smart choice for some time due to increased digitization and is a constant benefit for employees in terms of work-life balance and trust-based working hours.

Working from home, just like in the office, we need hardware and software to be able to work without limitations. For example, there are employees who have installed full office equipment, including computers, multiple monitors, keyboard, mouse, and telephone in their homes. For others, a laptop is all they need to complete their daily tasks.

Ultimate Powerful Vpn Connectivity

Whether in the office or at home, one of the most important things is the security of IT or internal data. Even at home, employees need access to the company’s ERP system and servers or to share confidential data. For this purpose, it is advisable to set up a VPN server that home office workers can connect to and thus have unlimited access to all company information.

A VPN, a virtual private network, provides the ability to navigate a company’s private network and securely process data. In today’s blog, we will show you how you can easily set up a VPN server in your company using IPFire.

IPFire is downloaded, for example, via the IPFire website. During installation, select the desired language, confirm the license, and select both the media for installation and the appropriate file system.

Then we proceed to the setting. Here we choose the keyboard layout and time zone, set the hostname and domain, and the password for “root” and “admin”. In the next step, we will take care of the network settings.

Firewalla Vpn Introduction

In the Network Configuration Type section, you can select different types of network configuration. Here we keep the preset type GREEN + RED for easy VPN configuration. In the “Network Card Assignment” section, we now assign a network card to the green and red interfaces. Here, the network card to be connected to the Internet should be selected in red, and the network card for the internal network should be selected in green.

In the “address settings”, we set the IPv4 address of the GREEN interface through which you can access IPFire in the internal network. Additionally, we map RED’s interface to how it obtains its IP address. Choose between “Static”, “DHCP” and “PPPoE”.

Gateway parameters must be specified if a static IP address is used for the RED interface. If we have completed the configuration of our network, we confirm “Done”. The next step is to configure the VPN using Services -> OpenVPN.

In the general settings, the most important entry is “Local VPN Host Name / IP”. If our company has a static IP address to connect to the Internet, or if a DNS name exists for that static IP address, we enter it here. If we only have an ADSL/VDSL line with changing IP addresses, we pre-integrate the IP through a DynDNS service, for example www.noip.com. We can also integrate the DynDNS service into IPFire. In this case, we enter the DynDNS name in the “Local VPN Hostname / IP” field.

“OpenVPN Subnet” is the network used to route through the Internet Gateway (as defined above) when IPFire is not the default gateway. If additional subnets are required for security reasons, we can add them in the Static IP Groups section. In the “Advanced Server Options” section, it is recommended to enable the “mssfix” option. Then we save our changes.

In the next step, we create “Root / host certificates” in the “Certificate authority and keys” section. This may take some time.

After creating the certificate, you can start the OpenVPN server. To do this, set the OpenVPN checkmark to RED in the general settings and start the server using “Start OpenVPN server”. If we want to make changes to the settings after that, we pause the server.

We are now creating VPN users. In the Connection and Control Status section, we add a new user using the Add button. Next comes the choice of connection type, with “Host-to-Net Virtual Private Network (RoadWarrior)” being the right choice for home office use.

The next configuration page is divided into three parts, where all fields marked with a red star are mandatory. In the Connection section, we enter the name of the client connection, which must not contain spaces. If additional VPNs are created, we will be able to use them in the Network Selection section.
