How Much Water Should You Drink Each Day – It’s all around us, 60 percent of our body is water, and we drink it every day. There is a reason that is everywhere around us and we drink it to live. Although many of us talk about drinking “enough” water, what does that really mean? What are the benefits of drinking water? Is it as important as most of us think? We can find out.
I want to make it clear that coffee drinks, shakes, smoothies, etc. do not count towards the amount of water you take per day. The water in these drinks is only used to achieve the right consistency and final product. You should not mix coffee beans with hot water because you really want to get that water into your body. You simply mix because you get the consistency of coffee. As you can see in the example of coffee, even processes outside our bodies rely heavily on water to get things done. How important is water in our daily life.
How Much Water Should You Drink Each Day
Drinking water has many benefits. There is a reason our body is made up of 50-60% water. There is a reason why no other source hydrates the body like water. There is a reason for dehydration if we do not drink enough of it.

Our body is made up of 50 to 60% water because our body depends a lot on it to direct/start/end many processes inside our body. All it needs is water to work properly. The reason water hydrates our bodies like other liquids is because our bodies don’t like other liquids that way. Take cola for example, our body does not keep cola liquid, it absorbs the sugar and all the other nutrients that make up the cola and discards the rest which is not useful in any way. Since the water is fully utilized. Our muscle cells, brain, lungs, heart etc. contain a lot of water. It makes sense if we don’t get used to our body during the day we start to feel tired/lazy/sleepy/demotivated/exhausted (dehydrated). This is because all those vital parts of the body are fighting for the same amount of water that you consume every day. When each part of the body does not have enough water to share equally, the parts of the body fight for water and as a result the parts of the body cannot perform their work/function. This is where the twist comes in.
But drinking water alone is not enough. Your body also needs to retain that water to be useful. Everyone knows that salt can hold water. Our body/blood has a concentration of salt which helps us retain water. We lose some of that salt in sweat/pee, but we need that concentration of salt in our blood to retain water. This is why adding salt to your food/water is beneficial for your health, especially when it’s hot and humid and makes you sweat a lot. This is also why many people experience the effects of dehydration when it is hot/humid.
In addition to the reasons I mentioned above, here is a list of more benefits of drinking water every day.
It is impossible for me to simply answer this question for you. All I do is give you the tools to find it for you and your lifestyle. Everyone is different, and our water consumption is no different. Everyone has different needs, our daily lives are different, and they all add up to different needs when it comes to nutrition and in this case water intake.
How To Calculate How Much Water You Should Drink A Day
Drinking enough water supports everything you do throughout the day. If you feel dehydrated, tired, and unmotivated at times during the day, it means we are not doing an adequate job of supporting our muscle, brain, and organ functions by staying hydrated. As we’ve established before, hydration has a direct link to performance, and our bodies need it to complete periods.
A simple guide to drinking water starts with making sure you have water nearby and with you wherever you are. You can drink water when it is nearby because it is easy and accessible. If you feel thirsty or your mouth is dry, it is already too late and it is a sign that you need to drink more water or replace your other drinks during the day with water. Another way to check your hydration level is to watch your urine, as urine is a good and reliable source of information about what is happening inside our body. If your pee is clear and watery, it’s a sign of overhydration, so see a doctor.
My recommendation to every person is to try for about 2.5 liters a day, whatever your life. If you get close to that number, you’ll be fine with everything you do during the day, and if you overdo it, you can tell and adjust for the next day from there.
You will notice that your needs are not always the same due to energy costs, weather variations and lifestyle changes.

Water Intake, What Is Enough?
We’ve all heard the standard “drink 8 glasses of water a day,” but is that really accurate? And where do you come from?
Exercise performance, cognitive function, mood, organ health (everything from the liver to the heart to the kidneys), your digestion, and more.
Research shows that drinking a glass or two of water before a meal can increase your body’s metabolism by about 100 calories. If you diet to lose weight it will be significant!
8 cups a day is the general recommendation for the general population. Meaning – It is not bad, but not completely good. As with most things in the world of health and fitness “everyone’s needs are unique and most water intake is no different.
Wondering Just How Much Water Should You Drink A Day?
Fortunately, some calculations and guidelines are more accurate than just 8 cups a day.
For example: A standard size water bottle is 500mL. This means that an adult man should consume 6 bottles of water a day.
Hydration is critical to exercise performance. Research shows that losing 1-2% of body weight after a workout “can inhibit performance by reducing blood volume (and consequently the body’s ability to maintain body temperature -safe/optimal core) and reduces the amount of oxygenated blood delivered to the working muscles.” . (6)
The simplest is to add 8-12oz of physical activity per hour. So if you go to the gym or play a hockey game you should add at least 1 cup (8oz) to your daily recommendation.
How Much Water To Drink Per Day
The most accurate method to calculate your hydration needs is to weigh yourself before an event/workout. Weigh yourself after the event/workout. For every lb of weight lost after exercise you should drink 2.5 cups (500 ml) to rehydrate. For example: Let’s say you were 160lbs before and then 158lbs. That’s a difference of 2 pounds lost. This means you should drink 500mL x 2 lbs = 1000mL (1L).
Don’t take hydration for granted during exercise – drinking fluids during exercise improves performance by lowering body temperature, increasing the strength of muscle contraction.
