While many of us talk about drinking “enough” water, what does that really mean? What are the benefits of drinking water? Is it as important as we think? Let’s find out.
I would like to clarify that drinking coffee, shakes, smoothies, etc. they don’t count the amount of water you take in each day. The water in this drink is only used to get the right consistency and final product. You don’t mix coffee beans with hot water because you really want the water to enter your body. You just mix it because that’s how you get the consistency of coffee. As you can see from the coffee example, processes outside our bodies also rely heavily on water to make things work. Water is very important in our daily life.

Our body is made up of 50 to 60% water because our body is highly dependent on it to carry out/start/complete many processes that take place in our body. It needs all that water to function properly. The reason water hydrates our bodies like no other liquid is because our bodies do not retain other liquids in this way. Take cola for example, our body does not retain the liquid that is cola, but absorbs the sugar and all the other nutrients that make up cola, and removes the rest, which is useless anyway. In this case, water is used as a whole. Muscle cells, brain, lungs, heart, etc. contains a large amount of water. It makes sense that if we don’t hydrate the body throughout the day, we start to feel tired/lazy/sleepy/unmotivated/tired (dehydrated). This is simply because all these major parts of the body are fighting for the same amount of water that you take in every day. This part of the body fights for water when there is not enough water for all parts of the body to distribute it evenly, as a result this part of the body cannot carry out its tasks/functions. This is where the cramp comes in.
However, drinking water alone is not enough. Your body must be able to retain this water to be effective. Everyone knows that salt can hold water. There is a concentration of salt in our body/blood which helps us retain water. We lose some of these salts through sweat/wetting, but we need the concentration of salts in our blood to help us retain water. Therefore, adding salt to your food/water is good for your health, especially when it’s hot and humid outside, which will cause you to sweat a lot. This is also why many feel the effects of dehydration when it’s hot/humid outside.
In addition to the reasons I gave above, here is a list that contains more benefits when it comes to drinking water every day.
It is impossible for me to give you a simple answer to this question. All I can do is give you the tools to figure it out for yourself and your lifestyle. We are all different and this is no different with our water intake. Everyone has different needs, our daily lives are different and all this adds up to different needs when it comes to nutrition and in this case water intake.

Drinking enough water means supporting everything you do throughout the day. If you ever feel dehydrated, tired, unmotivated during the day, it means that we are not supporting muscle, brain and organ function with adequate hydration. As we have already established, there is a direct link between hydration and performance, our bodies need it to get things done.
A quick guide to drinking water starts with making sure you have water nearby and with you wherever you are. You are more likely to drink water when it is nearby because it is convenient and accessible. When you’re thirsty or your mouth is dry, it’s too late and it’s a sign that you need to drink more water or replace the other drinks you drink with water during the day. Another way to check your hydration level is to look at your urine, urine is an excellent and reliable source of information that shows us what is going on in our body. If your urine is clear like water, that’s a sign you’re over hydrated, if your urine is dark yellow, it means you’re not retaining enough water or your sugar level is quite high, if your urine looks like coca. -cola, you should go see a doctor.
My recommendation for anyone is to aim for about 2.5 liters a day, no matter what your life looks like. If you get close to that number, you’re probably fine, no matter what you do during the day, if you overdo it, you’ll be able to figure it out and adjust for the next day.
You will notice that your needs are not always the same due to energy consumption, weather fluctuations and lifestyle changes.

Research shows that drinking a glass or two of water before a meal will increase your body’s metabolism by about 100 calories. This can be a huge amount if you are on a diet and trying to lose weight!
8 cups a day is the general recommendation for the general population. Meaning – It’s not wrong, but it’s not right either. As with most things in the world of health and fitness, “everyone’s needs are individual and most water intake is no different.
Weight Loss: How To Calculate How Much Water You Should Drink Every Day
Fortunately, there are some calculations and guidelines that are much more accurate than 8 cups a day.
For example: the standard size water bottle is 500 ml. This means that an adult man should consume the same amount as 6 bottles of water a day.
Hydration is key to exercise effectiveness. Research shows that losing 1-2% of body weight after exercise “can inhibit performance by reducing blood volume (and thus the body’s ability to maintain a safe/optimal core temperature) and reducing the amount of oxygenated blood pumped to working muscles”. The easiest is to simply add 8-12 oz per hour of physical activity. So if you go to the gym or play a hockey game, try to add at least 1 cup (8 oz) to your daily recommendation.
How Much Water Should I Drink Daily
A more accurate method of calculating your hydration needs is to weigh yourself before an event/exercise. Then weigh yourself after the event/exercise. For every pound of body weight lost after exercise, you should drink 2.5 cups (500 ml) for rehydration. For example: Say you weighed 160 pounds before and then weigh 158 pounds. That’s a difference of 2 kilos lost. This means you need to drink 500 ml x 2 lbs = 1000 ml (1 L).
