It is all around us, 60 percent of our body is water, we drink it every day. There is a reason that is everywhere around us and we have to take it for survival. Although many of us talk about drinking “enough” water, what does that really mean? What are the benefits of drinking water? Is it as important as many of us think it is? Let’s find out.
I want to make it clear that drinking coffee, shakes, smoothies, etc. does not count when it comes to the amount of water you get each day. Water is used in these drinks only to get the right consistency and final product. You don’t mix coffee beans with hot water because you really want to get that water into your body. You just mix it because that’s how you get the consistency of coffee. As you can see with the coffee example, our body’s external processes also rely heavily on water to make things work. How important is this water for our daily life.
There are many benefits when it comes to drinking water. There is a reason our body is made up of 50-60% water. There is a reason why no other source hydrates the body like water. One reason we feel dehydrated is if we don’t drink enough.

Our body is made up of 50 to 60% water as our body relies heavily on it to direct/initiate/complete many processes within our body. All you need is water to work properly. The reason why water makes our bodies like no other water is because our bodies do not hold other liquids in the same way. Let’s take charcoal as an example, our body does not retain the water in the charcoal, instead it absorbs the sugars and all the other substances that make up the charcoal and discards the rest that is not useful in any way. Wheat water is used entirely in it. Our muscle cells, brain, lungs, heart etc. contain large amount of water. It makes sense if we don’t hydrate ourselves throughout the day we start feeling tired/lazy/sleepy/lack of motivation/dry. This is simply because all the important organs in the body are fighting for the same amount of water that you drink every day. Those organs fight for water when there is not enough water to distribute to each organ equally, and this makes those organs unable to do their work. This is where the cramping comes in.
However, drinking water alone is not enough. Your body must be able to retain that water to be effective. Everyone knows that salt can store water. There is a concentration of salt in our body/blood that helps us retain water. We lose some of that salt through sweat/pee, but we need the concentration of salt in our blood to help us retain water. So adding salt to your food/water is good for your health, especially when it’s hot and humid when you sweat a lot. This is also why many people experience the effects of dehydration when it is hot/humid.
Apart from the reasons I mentioned above, here is a list that has more benefits when it comes to drinking water every day.
It is impossible for me to answer this question for you. All I can do is give you the tools to figure it out for you and your life. Everyone is different and no different when it comes to our water intake. Everyone has different needs, our daily lives are different, and they all add up to different needs when it comes to food and in this case water intake.
Reasons Why You Should Be Drinking More Water
Drinking enough water means supporting every single thing you do every day. If there are times during the day when you feel dry, tired, weak, it means that we are not doing a good job to support our muscles, brain and physical activity by giving enough water. As we have already established, there is a direct link between hydration and performance, our bodies need it to do things.
A simple guide to drinking water starts by making sure you have water nearby and with you wherever you are. You are more likely to drink water when it is nearby because it is easy and accessible. When you’re thirsty or your mouth is dry, it’s too late and it’s a sign that you should drink more water or replace other drinks with water, you’ve been drinking all day. Another way to check your hydration level is by looking at your urine, urine is a very good source and source of information that shows us what is going on in our body.
