Mop To Clean The Floor
When Aslett first got into the business, his favorite mopping tools were a string mop and a bucket. For years, this is how Aslett and his workers have been cleaning floors. In fact, if it wasn’t for spotting a single object, he would still be using a chain wiper.

After the invention of microfiber, with more than a thousand fibers per square inch, Aslett changed his approach. He now uses a reusable microfiber pad mop instead of a wire one.
“I haven’t found anything that cleans better than a microfiber mop,” Eslet said. “It picks up dirt quickly and easily and works without heavy buckets.”
Just be sure to use a microfiber pad that’s suitable for each type of floor, he adds. Hardwoods and chips are easily cleaned with short-ring microfibers, while tile floors require longer fibers — or “nets,” as Aslett describes it — to reach the grout.
Aslett recommends an easy cleaning solution: a quick spray of dish detergent in a bucket of water. “Dish detergent is made to soak up grease and grime. Don’t use too much or the floors will dull.”
How To Clean Wood Floors With Vinegar
The best part about wiping microfibers is that you only need plain water and a small amount of your favorite cleaning solution, which often saves money.
Simply put, if the floor looks dirty you should mop it up. For smaller families, this could be every two weeks; For families with children and pets, this may be once a week or more. Eslet suggests using door wipers at entrances to keep floors cleaner for longer. It makes sense!
Start with a well-cleaned, vacuumed, or mopped floor. Otherwise, you’ll run food, dust bunnies and who knows what around the room.
For lightly soiled floors, a damp mop may do the job once mopped. For heavily soiled floors, you will likely need to clean twice. First, wet the entire floor (soak it, keep it nice and damp). This loosens dirt and any sticky material. Wipe around the edges first, then move into the center of the floor using overlapping figure-eight strokes. When one side of the mop is dirty, turn the mop over to the clean side. When both sides are dirty, wash the mop in the bucket; Otherwise you’ll end up spreading dirt around instead of removing it. If any stubborn dirt remains, remove it with a scrubber before rinsing.
How To Mop
To rinse, swipe the floor with a mop dampened with clean water. Rinse the mop frequently and don’t let the rinse water get too dirty.
Pro tip: Put a quarter in the bottom of the bucket. When you can’t see a quarter, it’s time to change the water.
Wet a microfiber pad and wring it out well. To secure it to the mop head, leave it on the floor with the microfiber side facing down. Then place the mop head on the pillow. The pillow fastens to the head thanks to Velcro-like hooks and loops. You are now ready to dispose.
Using a spray bottle, spray a small area of the floor with the cleaning solution and mop. When the pad starts leaving traces of dirt, it’s time to rinse it in the sink. Depending on what’s on the floor, each pad typically needs to clean about 500 square feet before washing. Sticky residue may require more frequent rinsing. Wipe front and back in an overlapping pattern. It really is! Simply clean and rinse the pad and repeat the process. Well, your floors are primed for mopping. So is the show stopping? Why can’t we get rid yet?
Well, for one thing, it’s important to think about the type of material you’ll be wiping before you choose the cleaning product you want to wipe. At the end of the day, I found that there are basically two choices of cleaning products for mopping depending on the material of the floor.
Tile, stone, slate, marble and linoleum come clean with plain ammonia and cold water. Ammonia is very cheap, is a mild disinfectant and will not stain or discolor these types of flooring materials.
Ammonia usually comes as a white liquid, but I’ve seen it come in a light yellow color. Both are equally clean and will not streak.

Ammonia dries quickly and when it dries it does not harm children or pets. Ammonia, as most people know, has a strong odor that evaporates quickly when dry. Call me weird but I love the smell of ammonia.
Laminate floors containing wood-like composites should be wiped with any PH neutral wood product. Although it will clean well, contrary to what some people think, vinegar is a very poor choice for any wood or composite flooring material because it is a mild acid, usually 5 percent acid, that will eat directly into the finish over time. wood The floor! As long as the product is PH neutral or close to neutral (not acidic or alkaline), it is safe to use on modern wood or composite floors as long as you follow the instructions that come with the product.
Sadly, I find that many nervous homeowners with new hardwood floors insist on using a specific wood floor cleaning product recommended by the salesperson, even if he says something else will end up on the floor. This is just a ploy to get the homeowner to expect to buy an overpriced cleaning product from the flooring installation company.
The truth is that the flooring materials used in modern flooring construction are made to withstand severe wear and tear for many years and are able to withstand a wide range of cleaning products. Manufacturers of floor cleaning products are fully aware of the flooring materials in use today and ensure that their products will be safe for most if not all flooring materials. This only makes sense as they are trying to sell as many of their floor cleaning products as possible and the competition for your hard earned money is fierce.

Another tip is old Murphy’s soap which is a great product to use for washing wood cabinets, chipboards, and woodwork in the home, and is not a good choice for today’s modern flooring. Most floors have a clear polyurethane finish to protect them and extend the floor’s useful life which means they don’t need to be waxed or oiled.
Murphy’s soap will build up oil deposits over time
