Universal Technical Institute – Scottsdale, Ariz. – July 9, 2019 – Universal Technical Institute (UTI) has launched a first-of-its-kind program that engages transportation industry employers to develop talent pipelines and inform students about long-term career rewards.
UTI’s early employment initiative marries proven post-secondary skills with on-the-job, internship-type training. Under this program, students can learn about and apply for local jobs with participating employers after enrolling at UTI’s Avondale campus. This program gives employers the opportunity to screen and hire incoming students before they start school, and to gain on-the-job experience after graduation. The goal is for students to graduate and then work full-time for employers, immersed in the culture and practice, and well-prepared for a long-term career. Graduates who meet employers’ criteria will receive tuition fees and other incentives, as well as full-time employment.

“The Career First initiative breaks down common barriers between students who can get the most out of professional education and employers who want to hire them,” said Kim McWaters, UTI President and CEO. “While many are skeptical of the value and return of a post-secondary education, this program gives students tangible experience of what’s possible for them, and employers invest in it early on. Students can earn money and gain industry-specific experience while in school and a well-rounded career after graduation. getting a good job with an employer they know helps them pay their school fees.”
