The Opry was such a cool musical show. I would definitely recommend starting with the Ryman Auditorium backstage!
What To Do In Nashville When It Rains
If you do the backstage tour, you will have a couple of hours between the end of the tour and the concert. It’s a great time to go to the Opry Mills and have dinner at the aquarium. Kids will love seeing all the fish and sharks swimming around the aquarium while they wait for their food. The food itself was just ok, but the scenery made up for it.

As touristy as it sounds, I really believe that the best way to visit a city is by bus. I know, I know the whole tourist attraction thing. . . But listen to me. When you go on a bus tour, you usually have a guide who will point out things you may have missed and give you a good overview of the city and recommendations on where to go. Basically a guided tour of the city!
Plus, children are accommodated (you can usually bring snacks and drinks on the buses), so you really get a chance to look around and get to know the country of the new city you’re in. Every time we go on a bus trip you feel I feel that I have a better understanding of the city we are in, and then I am ready to explore even deeper.
We took the Gray Line Hop on Hop off bus tour in Nashville and it was a great way to see the city. We saw some parts of the city that I know we wouldn’t have seen if we hadn’t toured – like where the recording studios are and parts of the city.
We recommend doing this the first time you come to Nashville to see the land!

I’ve wanted to see a plantation since we were down south, so we decided to give this one a try.
Recommend: If you have an extra day and some extra money or are ready to see a plantation, I would recommend this tour. Or if you like wine tasting – I would definitely recommend it! Other than that, it wouldn’t be one of my must see stops with the kids and we wouldn’t do it again.
The Nashville Escape Game is a great indoor activity with the family! You and up to 8 people are put in a room and have to figure out how to get out in 60 minutes. The rooms have unique props and layouts and are full of various clues to help you figure out how to get out of the room.
We weren’t sure if it would be a kid-friendly activity or not, but it was! We highly recommend bringing the family to The Escape Game Nashville. You can read more about the time we play the game in our post: THE ESCAPE GAME IS A UNIQUE AND FANTASTIC ACTIVITY.
In Nashville, Rolling Parties Rage At Every Stoplight
I wasn’t sure how the Music City Hall of Fame and Museum would go over with the kids, and since Craig and I aren’t big country music fans, we didn’t know what we’d think either. So glad we went!! The story was really cool to watch and they did a fantastic job of showing it off.
Nashville is a music town, so it only made sense to come and learn more about country music!
We recommend giving yourself at least 2 hours, especially if you want to play and have plenty of time in the studio. The place closes at 17.00, so plan accordingly!
Art museums and children. . . I know from my previous posts that this is not always the best. But I knew this one had its niche, so we gave it a chance. We spent hours there.

We quickly went through the art section – they had a great collection of photographs, but the kids had very short attention spans. After leaving, we went straight to the children’s ward.
The children’s section was filled with handout art and craft activities for children. We watercolored, sketched, built, stop-animated and had a blast learning and making art! Now that’s how you make an art museum with kids!!
The arm area is at the top. You can go straight to it or go through the art displays first.
We recommend spending a few hours, if not more, just hanging out and doing all the different stations they have!

For more, check out this option: RCA Studio B & Country Music Hall of Fame Tickets. This is a good choice if you want to hear more about Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton.
Recommended: The museum is only 2 floors, so it’s not where you want to spend the whole day, but it’s definitely worth a stop for 3 or 4 hours! You can literally spend at least 1 hour in the Tinker Lab – if you have to wait to get in – wait, it’s worth it!
We highly recommend a reciprocal museum membership for FREE or discounted admission to museums across the country.
There are 14 stops on this hop-on hop-off tour, and you get unlimited use of Nashville’s Old Town Trolley. Or stay on the trolleys for a full 90 minutes for a live narrated tour of Music City’s top attractions!

**NEW** They have just added an amazing water park to the hotel. You don’t want to miss it, it looks amazing and is very family friendly!! You can learn more about it here: Sound Waves Water Park.
Recommend: You can spend hours just walking around the hotel and a whole day if you plan to eat and shop there. Walking around the hotel is a great free thing to do in Nashville. When you arrive, be sure to bring a map to get your bearings! We got lost a couple of times.
I still can’t say it right. . . Centennial Park is a large park outside the city that includes a pond, lots of grass and the Parthenon. The Parthenon is a replica of the Greek Parthenon, and it even has a 24-foot tall statue of Athena. If you want to go inside to see the statue, you have to pay a few dollars per person. But running outside is completely free!
When we’ve been to Nashville in the past, it’s always been in the off season. This time we were there in spring, which was perfect because there were lots of outdoor concerts and music festivals going on! I always look forward to free music and food trucks, and Musician’s Corner totally delivers.
